Everyone wants to look their best, wear the latest fashion trends, or even splurge a little on designer finds. However, not everyone has the money to do so. No worries though, there are some tricks and tips on how to look your best without having to spend an entire paycheck or rent money.

Set A Budget

First are foremost having a budget is important when shopping. Set a reasonable budget. One way of doing this is sifting through past receipts or looking at your previous spending sprees and determining how much you spend on average. Depending on where you’re going to shop, or how much you’re going to shop, adjust your budget accordingly.

When To Shop

Now that you’ve established your budget, know where and when to shop. Keep an eye out for the latest deals and sales. Pro tip: sign up for those newsletters that pop-up every time you shop online! They let you know when they’re having a sale, give exclusive previews of latest collections, and special discounts on your birthday or on any other day. The best time for sales is usually at the end of the season, middle of the year, and special occasions, such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Usually, stores have sales at the end of the season or in the middle of the season, this is because they’re making way for new merchandise and the costs tend to drop. That denim skirt at Aritzia you’ve been eyeing all summer but was a little too costly… You could get that now for half the price because right now they’re stocking up on fall clothes.

What to Shop For

Now that you have a budget and know when to shop it’s a matter of what to shop for. That’s the hard part if you’re a shopping addict like myself. You just want it all! Start off with the basics, classic little black dress maybe? Make a list of the essentials, then do your research to find which stores have what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for the latest trends, do your research too. After that’s done, the fun part begins!

Before I forget, it’s always a good idea to get on social media for outfit inspiration or to see what the latest trend are and where to get them. There are thousands if not millions of accounts dedicated to just fashion. The best social media platform for this would be Instagram. Instead of taking screenshots of every outfit you love, save the picture by clicking the save button which you could revisit later when you’re shopping.

Where To Shop

Now it’s a matter of where to shop. Depending on your style there are hundreds of stores for your niche. For the trendy lovers who want to emulate the high-end brands but don’t have the cash for it, stores like Zara, Forever21, and H&M have you covered. If you want to splurge a little more, stores Like Aritzia and Banana Republic are the ideal go-to’s.
Once in a while, some people want to splurge on high-end designer without having to pay the full price. If you’re one of these people check out sites like Hautelook.com or Shopstyle.com. They offer great discounts on designer finds.
